Poverty 24/7

Viktor Szécsi has been working as a social worker for years in Fütött utca, Budapest which is a day and night shelter for homeless people. He administrates a 24-hour duty, giving out food, sorting out donations, conducting health-checks, but helping is a lifestyle for him, not a job.

After graduating from college he started working at the shelter upon an old friend’s invitation, trying to get closer to the homeless people, getting to know them. It is really hard to see the poverty of hundreds of people every day and it takes great determination for someone with a college degree to choose this line of work. The gratitude of the homeless and his love for the helpers compensates for a lot of bad experiences.
